"...a stunner. This wine bursts from the glass with blackberries, cassis, grilled herbs, smoke and licorice which are all beautifully woven together."
- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2012
"A great Cabernet that will proudly stand beside the best of Napa Valley. So good to drink now, you might forget to age it, but don't."
- Wine Enthusiast, July 2012
"Smooth, lush and ripe with sweet plum, juicy acidity and great depth; rich, dense and spicy with intensity and balance."
- The Tasting Panel, September 2012
"...gets better and better the longer you sit with it in the glass. Starts off with purple fruit and juiciness in the tannins as the firm fruit comes into focus."
- Wine & Spirits, February 2011
The 2011 Sophia’s Hillside Cuvée is a dark, lush wine composed of our young hillside blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and our oldest block of Malbec. The fruit from these estate vineyard blocks meld together to create a perfectly balanced, intense wine. It has the fruit-forward youthfulness and freshness of the young Cabernet Sauvignon that is softened and balanced by the lush old vine Malbec and young Merlot. Floral aromas mixed with blackberry, cigar box, and sweet oak are the gateway to a palate chock-full with dark fruits, vanilla, black currant and the ideal tannin-acid structure.
